pointless as it may sound now, it was exactly the kind of time wasting nonsense we loved. and i remember it now as i had another unusually serious conversation with on of my oldest friends.
"naaalala ko dati, ang sabi ko mas gusto ko mas mahal ako ng kasama ko. siguro pagkatapos mong masaktan, ayaw mo na uli magmahal. ayaw mo na yung mas mahal mo siya."
"pero alam mo ngayon? nalaman ko, mahirap din pala pag mas mahal ka niya. kasi you know that if his heart breaks, you're the one responsible. and if the relationship doesn't work, it would be your doing. you'll always be the one responsible for hurting him."
it sounds awfully shallow to some. maybe we're too old to be having such trivial conversations. or maybe we're starting to think this way because finally, we are shedding our selfishness. we are growing up.
